    As for sensitivity to Israeli domestic realities, Kerry bent over backwards to take Bibi’s political concerns into account. The problem, if I am allowed to say, is that your political leaders are VERY needy.

    Failed to deal seriously with Israel’s security concerns? Kerry mobilized over 100 military experts under General John Allen to come up with solutions to Israel’s security needs. Israel’s generals were under strict instructions only to answer their questions. Who wasn’t serious?

    The friction w/ Obama, Kerry, Rhodes et al reflected core substantive differences. They failed to deal seriously w/ Israeli threat perceptions (security, incitement, Jerusalem, etc.) and domestic political realities. Trust is for family conflict resolution, not politics

    Deeply saddened by passing of John McCain, warrior, statesman, senator, husband, father, friend and moral tribune. A great man has been taken from us just when we most need his courage, valor, and integrity. May the memory of who he was and what he stood for be preserved forever.

    Trump will learn the hard way that the weak don’t respond to “maximum pressure” like the strong. When you’ve got nothing to lose except your pride, having even less just leads you to dig in your heels. The Palestinians even have a name for it: “sumud” (steadfastness).

    So counterproductive. Taking Jerusalem off the table, cutting funding to UNWRA, and now cutting economic aid to the Palestinian Authority will only drive the Palestinians further away from the table.

    The simple reality of Middle East peacemaking is that where there’s no urgency, there’s no peace.

    Some view Netanyahu's "urgency" statement as a sign of disrespect to Trump. I don't see it that way. It's accurate. Kushner/Greenblatt have said endless times they will unveil the plan "soon." They never have. Sounds like it's not so "urgent."

    Gee. Kim’s not cooperating because Xi’s not cooperating because Trump started a trade war with China. Trump discovers the concept of logical consequences applies in international affairs even if it doesn’t apply to his own affairs.

    Breaking News: President Trump canceled upcoming nuclear talks with North Korea, a rare acknowledgment that progress had stalled. He said China was a factor.
