The trials to determine effectiveness were done under lockdowns, masking and other mitigation efforts which were slowing transmission. They didn’t know how it would perform in the the real world with restrictions lifted.

Agreed Dr Kulldorf. People will be getting sick as usual and a bit more due to lack of contact with daily endogenous pathogens. The immune system needs to be awake with day by day training. Just like a muscle. Fear and isolation makes simple conditions to be exaggerated.
