In a pandemic, public health scientists have a duty to communicate with everyone, and to accept media invitations from left and right, friendly and hostile, etc. If not, they are hacks. 1/2

In a pandemic, journalists have a duty to engage with a diversity of public health scientists, and to invite those for and against lockdowns, for and against focused protection, for and against vaccine mandates, etc. If not, they are hacks. 2/2

Public health professional has a duty to follow the science and admit when they are wrong. (read, Your friends in the GBD) etc, if not, they are hack 3/3

"follow the science " as if it was a monolithic entity with no dissent and no ambiguity/ highly complex matters with arrays of different options/solutions. There are different ways/paths to solve certain problems

Seems like they have no problem picking out both sides of the argument when it comes to military conflict if they don’t agree with it.

Completely agree. That's just not the way the memetics work, though. And that's why we're in this hole.https://empathy.guru/2021/02/27/the-predictable-memetic-collapse-of-contemporary-journalism/ …

That is like saying good a math school should have people that teach 2+2=5. There is no need to have people that are incorrect. Especially in a time of crisis.

How sad it is that the fair and balanced ethic in journalism died years ago. We need it back now more than ever.
