This plot showing the time course of US wealth in the @nytimes today is far & away the most frightening graph I have ever seen. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/07/12/opinion/covid-fed-qe-inequality.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage … This level of inequality has us in the US heading towards a tipping point. If true it is a great threat to national security. pic.twitter.com/uGmw4ak3wy

I do agree, but it’s because of politics here in the US.

Lots of us have been saying from the start that the state privatized infection control - even when they socialized disease treatments.

Some of this is due to the medicalization of infection - eg the media and most MDs talked far far more about treatment than about testing. But also there was a habitual catastrophizing: people being told to wear masks outdoors when the best evidence was that outdoors was safest.

Exaggeration of Covid threat = overblown use of SIP / lockdowns = more deaths / poorer outcomes mainly with low income & vulnerable + more QE / low interest rates = wealth inequality increases. Fear has taken over and will hurt low income the most. https://twitter.com/dhirajkacker/status/1296437907352363014 …
