"All schools showed low transmission, for which the report credited the only unstudied pillar, the masking policy. Applied everywhere, there was no control group. The researchers might as well have attributed the low Covid rate in schools to wearing shoes"https://www.wsj.com/articles/sophistry-at-duke-in-defense-of-masks-11625761644 …

These kids are going to have social lives with each other (unmasked) and they will blame transmission on schools. Grade school kids hang out with kids in their class.

How anyone in 2021 is still following Martin may be the most confusing thing of this entire pandemic.

My kid’s school was mask optional. WHERE WERE THE RESEARCHERS? Nobody really wanted to know the truth. Even with periods of high community spread, the kids at school were fine.

Exactly the kind of article and statement you'd expect to be cited by a responsible #scientist to contribute to a serious and informed investigation about the relative role of #schools and #students in the spread of a virus! 🤔

And now California says they will require masks for attending school K-12 this fall, although there was enough uproar they will likely back off to a more weaselly positionhttps://twitter.com/CAPublicHealth/status/1414772859767910407?s=20 …

UPDATE: California’s school guidance will be clarified regarding masking enforcement, recognizing local schools’ experience in keeping students and educators safe while ensuring schools fully reopen for in-person instruction.
