This piece argues for age-specific mitigation measures. I think I've heard that idea before....... Canada--avg age of Covid death in 2020 was 84. 84.https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/opinion-its-time-to-follow-the-scientific-method-and-re-evaluate-canadas-covid-approach …

Catchy but could be faulty. Do you have an estimate for average (or should it be median?) age of covid deaths without mitigations? The first suggestion that comes to mind is match it to similar numbers in another counties with different policies. Brazil, Hungary, Peru?

Gigi has zero understanding of the Australian culture of mateship. It's unique in the world. When the chips are down we've listened to health experts, stuck together, & in a collective act of altruism, we've been willing to put the value of human life above the mighty dollar.

Exactly the reason why #lockdowns should be avoided, whenever possible. And exactly the reason why they must be used properly, when they can no longer be avoided! Not recognising the role of #lockdowns is not the way to use them properly! 🤨https://twitter.com/Capobianco2005C/status/1353707712220114944?s=20 …

The #paradox is that the most ineffective, delayed, longer, wider, and harmful #lockdown(s) are caused by the "anti-lockdowners" and by those who do not allow to act properly and selectively with timely, shorter, smaller, and effective #lockdown(s)!🤔

Going forward, what characteristics of a new virus would actually justify shutdowns/social distancing? 5% mortality? 80% hospitalization rate? Same mortality across age groups? Transmission of greater than 10 per infected? Same case load in summer as in winter months?
