Collateral lockdown damage: The progress to end child labor has stalled with 8.4 million more children forced to work. "The new estimates are a wake-up call", says @ILO director @GuyRyderhttps://www.unicef.org/press-releases/child-labour-rises-160-million-first-increase-two-decades …

Don't know why this surprises anyone, when the fiat currency the world is competing for loses its value faster than you can spend it, it really is no surprise that children have to work just to help feed their family. #EndFiat

Dear @UNICEFnl, Good to combat child labour, but please let the UNHCR refugee camps comply to your standards: #leadbyexamplehttps://twitter.com/arfat08482582/status/1399998113134223364 …

There's been a lockdown, so employment went up? OK, then.

Could you elaborate on the exact mechanism of cause and effect? How exactly lockdowns caused increase in child labor? For example, was it in the same country or did lockdowns in rich countries causes child labor in poor ones? It’s hard to follow.

Rough calculation: That’s 37800 children dead this year assuming a mortality increase from 0.5 (0% prevalence) to 5 (100 % prevalence for the 8.4 million more) due to child labor risks and ignoring age group in the graph below. And these are children dead, not 84 years old.....pic.twitter.com/Megi4DpgTf
