Social media platforms should be “extra careful when it comes to debates involving science. The institution of science has developed these norms and behavior to be self-corrective. So, to step into that conversation, I think it’s problematic.” - @jevinwesthttps://www.bmj.com/content/373/bmj.n1170 …

Science is not about finding the "truth". Science is about doing science.

Would be great if they would just step into the conversation . Instead they’re censoring the conversation .

Should have ‘fact checked’ the Imperial College report, March 2020 which predicted 500k dead in the UK. 9 days later lead author, Neil Ferguson, testified before a Parliamentary committee his revised estimate of 10-20k. 10k of whom, he said, would likely have died soon anyway.

It didn't predict 500k deaths in the UK. The report is public, so I'm not sure why people still make this false claim. Just go read it.

The self-correction happens within science, not when there are grand declarations.

Do established scientific publications allow any string of words to be published (for example, about a new perpetual motion device) or is there some form of “censorship” happening and then peer-reviewing? What exactly is that mechanism of self-correction? How does it work?
