"The idea that counting the costs of the lockdowns is somehow immoral, which took hold in the early days of the epidemic, was itself immoral since so many of those costs involve the lives of the poor killed by the lockdowns themselves" -Dr Jay Bhattacharyahttps://jimmyalfonsolicon.substack.com/p/the-high-costs-of-lockdowns-an-interview …

"the poor killed by the lockdowns themselves" But you make then a calculation !?! Hm. When you calculate, please calculate what happended in India, when a massive outbreaks occured. What are that costs? Everybody is scared and avoids to go outside (even before LD)

The poor always suffer first from the damage caused by government controlled life—especially under programs “for the poor” and this goes for “the children” too. But it’s wrong to focus only on “the poor”. The individual—whatever the wealth and income—is under siege.

Hmm, I'm not 100% certain that this VERY confident January 11, 2021 statement (that most Indians are immune & that it would be harmful to vaccinate them) holds up now? There were 161,736 new infections yesterday. Great Barrington Declaration authors are giving awful advice, no? pic.twitter.com/s3jkCKBWo3

The poor (which have a higher rate of obesity & health issues) also died from Covid while running essential jobs and supplying the protected affluent WFH, which in return blamed the latter for not locking down. It's a triple-penalty.

political economists have developed tools to measure all types of social damages. The knowledge to quantify the negative effects of lockdowns exists, including even proxies for domestic violence etc. It’s just being ignored by policymakers, but I hope for more upcoming papers

It's hilarious to act like this is talking facts. Capitalism is not a law of nature. It's not a coincidence that countries with socialist elements did not need mask mandates to get through this and they are also "free" countries. The US chose to kill people
