Rather than #FocusedProtection of high-risk older people, lockdowns protected the Zoom class while throwing low-income workers under the bus. Politicians, journalists and scientists protected themselves instead of the most vulnerable. That is not public health.https://twitter.com/rubiconcapital_/status/1371594488062345221 …

Of Toronto’s 140 neighbourhoods, in the 2nd wave… The 35 lowest income neighbourhoods vs. the 35 highest income neighbourhoods had*: 2.9x more cases 2.7x more hospitalizations 2.2x more deaths *all figures are per 100,000 pic.twitter.com/Ms6WCQ0yBE

This has repeated in vaccine distribution. In the US we've concentrated vax distribution on hospitals and on large scale sites, effectively creating barriers for those with multiple and/or precarious jobs to get vaccines. And yet that is the population worse affected by Covid.

It’s a public health injustice that MDs not in intensive Covid-facing work - eg podiatrists, radiologists, orthopedists - were prioritized for the vaccine before, eg, poultry plant workers. This goes along w/ @VPrasadMDMPH’s comment about buying oneself out of lockdown. https://twitter.com/70sBachchan/status/1370122225324556291 …

In the UK if you point this out you are virtually accused of wanting to murder people.

Dr Kulldorff, do you think younger age groups and/or ppl who already had the virus need to be vaccinated? I am not an antivaxxer but I am “vaccine hesitant” about this one. It seems to be a religious mantra now that everyone MUST be vaccinated

As I have asked many times please present a model of focused protection in different country settings. Bear in mind that risk is not restricted to the over 60s and that a large number of essential workers are at risk and would require "protection"

When you say "protected the Zoom class while throwing low-income workers under the bus" it sounds like you're talking about the Swedish strategy. That's exactly what has been happening here, and which you have applauded.

Except our strategy didn't protect anyone in the long run, while measures aimed at getting cases down to as low levels as possible actually protect everyone.
