Unless and until such coverage is achieved ( with vaccines that remain as effective as early data show) it is imperative to suppress virus transmission in the general population with the measures that work. This is the opposite of #GBD’s fanciful “focused protection” wo vaccinehttps://twitter.com/MartinKulldorff/status/1339839182571749377 …

As soon as we discover these "measures that work", and work out ways to implement them without poorly quantified (and quite possibly dramatic) public health costs, we'll all be on the same page and these retweet arguments will be able to take a pause!

On the other hand, evidence-based "measures that work" to reduce the burden of the pandemic do exist: Age-based leniency for UI benefits, extra pay so LTC workers only work one job, targeted resources for at-risk communities, etc. The narrative of "suppression" hasn't helped.

All anathema to libertarians like the @aier which sponsored #GBD

No I actually think @WesPegden makes some good suggestions and indeed I started advocating for paid sick leave in Feb. but as it happens @gop opposes both econ relief and control measures

Glad that you like some of the suggestions that @WesPegden and the #GreatBarringtonDeclaration have made to save lives by better protecting older high-risk people. There are additional concrete suggestions in the FAQ.https://gbdeclaration.org/frequently-asked-questions/ …

Hitler had some good ideas too (animal conservation, anti-tobacco). Doesn't mean that those who liked those particularly good ideas advocated for his entire genocidal solution. The GBD makes no sense with vaccines being distributed.
