1/ Dr. Kullforf, I agree the U.S. needs focused protection; the number of care home deaths in the US is awful. I don't think that locking down care homes, as done in US, Canada, and Sweden, is right way to protect, though; I'd like to run my idea by you, if I may. [....]

2/ I think it's important to give families access, as they provide needed (1) extra care and (2) inspection. That could be limited by testing, requiring a + antibody result, or a - PCR test result and/or lateral flow test result. And there could be physical distancing rules too.

Agree. Visits by family/friends is critically important for both the physical and mental health of nursing home residents. Can be done safely with antibody and quick antigen tests.
