This is weird! @SWAtlasHoover stated the simple fact that immunity is higher than those with antibodies, whereupon Dr. Fauci criticizes him without contradicting what was actually said. Stating a simple scientific fact is not "extraordinarily inappropriate". What is going on?https://twitter.com/peterstaley/status/1309848839621423107 …

"Cross-immunity" hasn't been shown, only "cross-reactivity" - seems like hairsplitting, but it's the key difference. And yes, we don't know whether having (cross-)reactive T cells is protective.

What would it mean if there is no outbreak during the winter in NY?

Don't get me wrong, I believe that SARS-CoV-2 induced T cells afford (some level of) protection. Cross-reactive T cells are present in many people, but they can still get infected. Whether they positively impact the course of disease is currently under heavy investigation

Thanks Lars. So you agree with Atlas that SARS-CoV-2 induced T cells afford some immunity, and some people w/o antibodies are protected. I suspect Fauci also agrees. That is why it was so strange. On the other hand, cross-immunity is uncertain. Appreciate your patience with me.
