Hi Carl/@CT_Bergstrom. Among disease outbreak experts, many of us support the age-targeted strategy advocated by @SWAtlasHoover, but sadly, many are afraid of #Stanford98 type attacks. Here is my published response to their open letter: https://www.stanforddaily.com/2020/09/16/letter-to-the-editor-scott-atlas-and-lockdowns/ … @mfgrphttps://twitter.com/CT_Bergstrom/status/1306821532253995009 …

You've probably heard by now that a group of nearly 100 Stanford medical faculty wrote an open letter disavowing the claims made by Trump's coronavirus advisor Scott Atlas. It seems that Atlas has taken a page from his boss's playbook, and is threatening to sue for defamation. https://twitter.com/mfgrp/status/1306419659801985026 …

Ok. I’ll take the bait, and shout into the void. It’s a little unsettling to make common cause with Atlas. He’s right but maybe it’s not so evidence based, in the same way that Trump is right but for the wrong reasons. Does this improve the case for evidence based policy?

The age-targeted #COOVID19 strategy is evidence based, using sound public health principles that takes a long-term view, considers other aspects of public health, caring for the WHOLE population.https://jacobinmag.com/2020/09/covid-19-pandemic-economy-us-response-inequality …

totally agree. End the lockdowns now, send the kids back to school, etc. That’s what the science is telling us. I’m worried that if Atlas is not doing it based on dispassionate analysis of the data but by transparently politically motivated reasoning, that might undermine us.

Based on this article, his thinking seems very data driven, sound and scientific. What do you think?https://thehill.com/opinion/healthcare/494034-the-data-are-in-stop-the-panic-and-end-the-total-isolation …

I would love Atlas to give an evidence based hours long Whitehouse briefing to the press until they were out of questions and convinced, but is he capable?
