"Surprisingly, the alleged falsehoods are not mentioned, making scientific discourse difficult", but here is my letter in @StanfordDaily defending @SWAtlasHoover, criticized by 98 Stanford faculty members, and his age-targeted #COVID19 strategy.https://www.stanforddaily.com/2020/09/16/letter-to-the-editor-scott-atlas-and-lockdowns/ …

What a load of bunk! An age-targeted strategy might work if we had a testing infrastructure to back it up but 6 months into the pandemic and we still can’t get tested, those who get tests wait for result so long it’s meaningless. What department are you in again? @sadpic.twitter.com/5mGiHn15Hx

Hi Atticus. I am in the Dep of Medicine. Instead of wasting tests on young asymptomatics, we need more frequent testing of nursing home staff, before people visit older relatives, etc. And yes, with more rapid test results.https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-case-against-covid-tests-for-the-young-and-healthy-11599151722 …

Hmm... a scientist citing the @WSJ? Awesome and it allows you to hide behind Rupert’s paywall. We are only beginning to see the tip of the iceberg relating to your “young asymptomatics” since they were largely quarantined until recently. Your “let it burn” strategy is criminal.

Thank you. Thank you for confirming my intial impression that you have little or no idea what you are talking about. Just to clarify, do you actually believe that the size and infectiousness of an asymptomatic population has no effect on the dynamics of the pandemic? #viralload

Then what is the basis for your thesis that it is a waste of time to test children and asymptomatics? We know there is transmission from asymptomatic individuals amIright? Am I missing something. Do you at least agree that the drive to obtain herd immunity will kill millions?

          Replying to @TAFORU @MartinKulldorff and

If there is asymptomatic transmission, it is very rare, but Martin's position accepts that it occurs. His point is that herd immunity is the inevitable endpoint, so delaying *all* infections (esp. in the young/healthy) is both futile and extremely damaging.

I’m making a good faith effort to fathom your argument. It seems your 9/3 OpEd does not take into account child to adult transmission. We know kids have high titers of virus in the nasopharynges, correct? Why wouldn’t they be infectious? The # of C19+ kids is increasing right?

We have studies from Scandinavia and Germany (possibly more) documenting that children may be a BRAKE on infection. There is no heightened transmission in schools, and teachers are no more likely to die than those in any other profession. https://www.folkhalsomyndigheten.se/contentassets/c1b78bffbfde4a7899eb0d8ffdb57b09/covid-19-school-aged-children.pdf …

It seems that you and your colleagues are not doing a good job of keeping up with the literature. May I offer you a summary of recent results from J of Pediatrics;https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2020/08/looking-at-children-as-the-silent-spreaders-of-sars-cov-2/ …
