In the United States, there is a now second front against lockdowns, from the left. Together with fellow Harvard infectious disease epidemiologist @wkyih, I was interviewed by @NicoleAschoff in @jacobinmag, a progressive left magazine. I have to take issue with your assertion that lockdowns are in themselves an attack in the working class. This is only the case in places like the US where the state fails to provides wage subsidies. In Australia we look after our workers a lot better.

Thank you for speaking out. Because the two most powerful factors distorting the scientific project of clarity may just be corporate profit-seeking and partisanship.

A good article, but the contrary view must be considered. A quick response: https://twitter.com/danmkervick/status/1307667162530807809?s=21 …https://twitter.com/DanMKervick/status/1307667162530807809 …

This article skirts several topics, with a lot of vague talk about “protecting older and higher risk workers” without recognizing that those workers work among and for the low risk populations whose lives you recommend should be conducted normally. /1

I'm assuming this is *not* a position statement by @jacobinmag - especially considering that they have also been providing positive coverage by @_ericblanc & others of the struggle by teachers to keep schools closed. These would be diametrically opposed positions.

I wish that the scientists who held these views would write a joint letter, similar to the one sent by @ProfKarolSikora and colleagues to Boris Johnson, to the states and the American media. Particularly, the media... Perhaps it has happened already, I can't be sure.
