Contact tracing, testing and isolation is important against many infectious disease outbreaks, such as Ebola and post-vaccine measles. It is ineffective, naïve and counter-productive against COVID19, influenza, pre-vaccine measles, etc, and by definition, against any pandemic.

Ok so: 1. nearly 2,000 million people living virus free in multiple countries, with few deaths and decent GDP Or 2. 10 million people in a sparsely populated country with fairly small cities, many deaths and poor GDP And your instinct is that we should learn from 2 ?

The overall population density of Sweden is a complete red herring -a function of the fact that no one lives in large parts of it. 85% of Swedes live in urban centres. Stockholm has a similar population density to Madrid and Malmo has a population density twice that of Rome.
