Do you have any idea how many people will die with “herd immunity”? Just give me a ballpark guess. Swedish healthcare to US’s is like comparing a Ferrari to a 90’s Ford Explorer, which can sure hold a lot of people, but has tends to flip when taking a turn at a high speeds.

Also, we don’t even really know of the long term of effects of Covid on the human body.

Oh dear God, Martin! Super helpful there 🤦🏽‍♀️ just take a look at long term sequelae from cold, flu, bronchitis, etc

It’s not the flu, cold or bronchitis. Got to give me a better answer than: 3+million folks will die and the survivors will have unknown long term effects, I’m sorry, but this is what needs to be done to open fully back up.

Sweden has an amazing health care system and it’s populace doesn’t experience obesity and heart problems at rates here in the US!! Did you see what happened in NYC/Jersey with an overwhelmed healthcare system?!

Sweden has better health care, yes, but that makes it even more critical for the US to implement the age-targeted strategy to protect the high-risk groups while low-risk individuals generate immunity. This will minimize mortality, and it is the opposite of the NY/NJ approach.

Look if I had faith in Americans to implement any cohesive strategy with the virus I might be more game. I think age targeted strategies are ideal. But at every turn each side is so skeptical of each other it undermines any unified effort. We need Swedish level education too.

But we’ve never had a strategy in the past? I see no point. Different from SE, the Philippines had one of the more stringent lockdowns, high mask compliance, and.....wait for it....the virus came backhttps://www.conservativereview.com/news/horowitz-philippines-harshest-lockdown-mask-wearing-didnt-work/ …
