Same here! And I still have not figured out how to deal with people/friends/family who just shrug their shoulders as if all the collateral damage was inevitable and who were totally unwilling to even read anything that would question their own uncritical narrative.

It is puzzling, but I believe rooted in the liberal (or leftist more accurately) idea that government can solve all problems. Covid lock downs hurt poor? Well we can just send them checks.

When they stopped refugee rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea (because of potential C-risk) and my green-liberal bubble kept quite, it blew my mind. How hypocritical can we become? Refugees dying as a fact versus a potential risk of transmission. And we chose the latter.

I fear you are correct about many, yes. It's difficult to explain this reaction otherwise...unless they feel all this will lead to some sort of "equality utopia". I've got news:it won't.

The starving workers need to think more strategically. The booming economy was going to get Trump reelected, but a little economic pain now gives Biden the best chance to defeat Trump. Biden can help the unemployed after the election.

"The first thing you shut down if your body is at risk is the last thing that came to us during evolution as mammals. That's the immune system. So the immune system is shut down first if you starve...it's not the rich people that are dying...it's the poor." Dr. Beda Stadler
