Except today going back to school didn’t mean what it did last year. My local HS has kids sitting in classrooms watching classes on a tablet while the monitor in the room makes sure they are wearing their masks. The are doing virtual ‘learning’ from their desks.

Perhaps it represents a (pretty solid) heuristic adjustment to reject the bad reporting that implies death is the only important outcome. It is not a terrible estimate for people suffering serious harm (and just not already being more close to death).

I wonder why?-People take opinion news as fact rather than utilizing the vast available info to reach their own conclusions. Our apathetic society for the most part has removed itself from using it's common sense, instinct and zeal to learn.
