We need a proper public debate about the relevance of PCR testing for tracking the incidence of Covid-19 disease in society. Disparities between lab tests & clinical data are becoming embarrassing. Hospitalisations & deaths flatlining across Europe while no end to new “cases”

#PCR testing is very important for clinical care and to ensure that hospital, nursing home and elder care staff, patients and residents do not infect each other. Also helpful with random population surveys. Not important to test other asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic persons.2 replies 1 retweet 4 likes -

For public health, it is pointless in the US right now. It is useful as part of research studies to understand the transmission dynamics of COVID19.
