"The only way we can reduce the risk to the vulnerable people in the population is, for those of us who are able to acquire herd immunity, to do that." - professor @SunetraGupta, infectious disease epidemiologist, Oxford Universityhttps://reaction.life/we-may-already-have-herd-immunity-an-interview-with-professor-sunetra-gupta/ …

Replying to @MartinKulldorff @SunetraGupta
An individual cannot acquire herd immunity. Individuals acquire immunity and as a consequence others benefit from herd immunity

I'm sure Sunetra Gupta was talking about the community attaining enough immunity to constitute herd immunity. Thank you, by the way, for your excellent work on explaining herd immunity. Do you have an estimate on the Herd Immunity Threshold for covid 19?

It is still impossible to know what the herd immunity threshold is, so beware of any numbers floating around. Also depend on who. Fewer are needed if herd immunity is generated by young socially active adults with many contacts versus older people that mostly stay at home.
