It is absolutely stunning to observe how the scientific community has reacted to the public health aspects of the pandemic. When the fog clears, one of the consequences of the pandemic will be public distrust in science and scientists.

Literally 100% of the time in the past 6 months I've heard the words "public health expert" it's been a person telling me a blatant lie. I'm beginning to think public health is just PR for health stuff, no actual science
Media will happily proclaim anyone an expert. I’m afraid this has not been limited to public health experts. Some of my “hero level” immunologists have compromised themselves to a level that I’m not sure I will be able to take their future “real expert” outputs similarly seriously than how I used to do.
