As a scientist I appreciate your argument but there are two issues that you do not mention that worry me: 1) The main problem these days is not old people getting infected, is young people infecting older people. You do not address which measures are needed to cut the spread 1/

      2) Even though the IFR is lower with lower age, there is more younger population (I do not see that reflected in your numbers). For example, 10% of the deaths in some countries is people below 55. Yes, we avoid 90% of the deaths, but how do you justify the 10% that may still die?

Hi Ricardo. Good questions. I cannot justify any deaths from any cause, just propose how to minimize deaths. To avoid being infected by the young, self-isolate older people, deliver groceries to them, test nursing home staff daily, etc

Agreed but there is the philosophical question that this is in some sense inverse discrimination by age. Sweden solved it by no including age in the equation but Covid19 does discriminate by age. How we justify this?

Many in the USA like In multigenerational homes (unlike Sweden where 50% are single household.) Many don’t have a choice but to interact with elderly relatives. Not easy to self-isolate in a home filled with people

Good in “theory”, doesn’t work in reality. Thanks to common ignorance, old meet young or have to go for groceries and into parks for s walk. And you’re against even masks. Effectively, the elder have no protection in practice, and we no closer to herd.
