Martin Kulldorff @MartinKulldorffMaybe(?) in Sweden, but not in the USA. It is not over until death counts are close to zero without a lockdown. The lockdown just postpones the epidemic until we have a vaccine or until we lift the lockdown at a later date.@MLevitt_NP2013 https://twitter.com/MLevitt_NP2013/status/1287036738565738496 …1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -

- While in lockdown, we are still in pandemic mode, even if deaths=zero. - Hard hit New York City already has high immunity, so he may be right there. Hard to guess. - In many other areas, most are still susceptible. When lockdowns are lifted,
#COVID19 will resurge.1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -
Replying to @MartinKulldorff @EricMcPh and
Is role of NYC's high level of immunity as controversial an idea in your field as it would appear to observers? Because it seems like media and public health discussion deflect at best, will not acknowledge that prevalence of immunity is or could be a factor. Political?

Hi James. Not controversial. When more people have already had the infection, there are more people with immunity, which slows down the spread of the disease. What's unknown is the current % with immunity and the % needed for herd immunity.
