I'm so sick of this "Well, this is a health and safety issue, so why should teachers be consulted?" BS. It implies that school is just a babysitter for you to drop your kids off at. Effectively educating our youth is the whole purpose of school. CONSULT EDUCATORS!

Sweden never closed day-care or primary/middle schools, with zero
#COVID19 deaths among 1.8 million children ages 1-15. https://folkhalsomyndigheten.se/contentassets/c1b78bffbfde4a7899eb0d8ffdb57b09/covid-19-school-aged-children.pdf …6 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

And Sweden is amongst the highest Covid death rate per capita in the world. How many of their parents or grandparents caught it from them?

Per capita, Sweden has fewer
#covid19 deaths than UK and slightly more than US, with Swedish and UK rates decreasing while US rates are increasing.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

You were using Sweden as an example of keeping schools open while now you're admitting they have higher per capita death rate than the US. You realize that's a bad thing, right?

Hi Kris. No, on the contrary. Despite a wide-spread outbreak, zero school children died in Sweden. Children are not fueling the epidemic. Focus should be on protecting the high-risk elderly, where Stockholm messed-up, although not as badly as England or New York.

Hi Martin. What about teachers? Educational assistants? Janitors? Parents? Grandparents? Where is the data showing that children did not contract COVID, since you're only talking about deaths. You realize there is a large area between healthy and dead, right?

Kris, will try as best I can to respond. Compared to other professions, the relative risk of
#COVID19 was 0.9 (95% CI 0.7-1.1) for day-care teachers and 1.1 (95% CI 0.9-1.3) for primary/middle school teachers. Other school staff probably similar. https://folkhalsomyndigheten.se/contentassets/c1b78bffbfde4a7899eb0d8ffdb57b09/covid-19-school-aged-children.pdf …3 replies 0 retweets 1 like -
Children do get COVID19. In Sweden, ages 1-15, there where 468 reported cases and 8 ICU admissions, per June 14, out of 1.8 million children. To this, add unreported mild and asymptomatic cases. Overall, less severe than influenza. https://www.folkhalsomyndigheten.se/contentassets/c1b78bffbfde4a7899eb0d8ffdb57b09/covid-19-school-aged-children.pdf …

Older people 70+ living with someone <65 had higher #COVID19 risk than those living with someone >65. With or without <16 made no difference. https://su.figshare.com/articles/preprint/Residential_Context_and_COVID-19_Mortality_among_the_Elderly_in_Stockholm_A_population-based_observational_study/12612947 …
