THREAD: There are some seriously bad takes about today, about how the media causes political violence So let's ask a basic Q If Fox News "caused" yesterday, what caused 100+ straight nights of "mostly peaceful" riots & violence in Portland? 🤔pic.twitter.com/H699zKV5Ik

Secondly, the ludicrous notion that new UK media channels will somehow precipitate similar here is utterly numbskulled It's a total credit to Brexiteers that after 4 1/2 years of vote suppression there was no protest even akin to DC yesterday. We fight & win at the polls!

Reports on protestors who stormed Capitol Hill being Antifa infiltrators are becoming impossible to ignore. If true, these may fuel a sense of betrayal among Trump supporters further I am dismayed that pundits are not viewing this civil strife through a conflict resolution lens https://twitter.com/ingrahamangle/status/1346979377150648320 …

The issue has been that large sections of the media and many politicians, normalised political violence over the years if the pursuit was a ‘noble cause.’ What they have failed to appreciate is that rightly or wrongly, each side sees their respective cause as a noble one
