Does the article mention Ted Lieu introduced the same legislation in the House in 2017, or did you miss that?

Empty gesture.

60% of people incarcerated in this country haven't even had a trial yet and 90% of those are only still there because they couldn't afford to post bail. How is this an empty gesture? It's one of the most efficient ways to start to end mass incarceration.

Thank god the women's suffrage and civil right's movement didn't listen to people like you.
-
Those were real movements, with multiple leaders over generations. My family members founded the NAACP and were instrumental in the civil rights mvmnt. One was given the medal of freedom by GWB. Try again! Bernie is a narcissist. You are in a cult.

Ending mass incarceration isn’t a real movement?
-
No. It's an important issue you do not have a movement. And MLK didn't promulgate bs bills that he knew weren't going to be pass for his own vanity. He did meaningful work that would get results. He put his body on the line. This is PR bs for talking points when BS ruins 2020.

He and you and your ilk will talk about how minorities are disproportionately affected (which is true), and that this action, alone, makes Bernie the greatest civil rights leader of our time. AND THAT is the ONLY purpose that this exercise in vanity and stagecraft will have.
