Well, I disagree, I'll stick with all the research that shows what a bad idea this is.
All the research that backs this is methodologically garbage. Maximum longitudinal follow time 1 year. For changing lifetime addiction. Usually based on who gets caught, not on actual use. All real empirical research on addiction shows that simply mandating something is useless.
Not to mention that it's no ones business but the person who has the addiction whether or not they use. This is puritanical, moralizing hand-wrining. Want to end addiction? Finance social supports and close the prisons.
