Exactly! This is what a serial predator does. He groomed his victims.

Almost can't talk about it. Like discussing exactly what BTK killer did to victims & such. But talk we must or we're complicit.

Anyone passingly familiar with predators recognizes this a classic grooming behavior. Moore's actions serve only to bolster the legitimacy of the complaints.

Yes. And no one who is NOT a predator engages in grooming. Even if one refuses to #BelieveWomen, the widespread acknowledgement of Moore's grooming is IMHO proof positive that 1) He was (is?) a predator, and 2) There are many more stories to be told.

For those of us who have suffered at the hands of someone like Roy Moore, talking about this, even in the general, is excruciating. But, as you say, talk we must.

Martha, #Metoo I'm sorry you experienced it, & thank you for being willing to talk in general about this issue. It's important for girls & women to see it's okay to tell someone to stop the behavior. These women in AL are being doubly abused by public support for Moore. Thx.

None of this came up publicly for 35 years, even though Moore has been described as “divisive” in Alabama politics- ‘til now? Really? ;-)

You both make good pts. Problem is #WaPo report conflated 3 allegations of now-considered icky behavior (early 30-something courting young women just past age of consent) w criminal behavior (sex assault of 14yo.) "Common knowledge" cd've been abt icky but not illegal stuff only

If you lived in Etowah County, Alabama back in the early 80’s to 90’s then you would of heard of these rumors. There wasn’t much the women could do, with him getting elected as Judge & gaining more power over the years.

Common knowledge. How many people have covered up for him or looked the other way over the years?

To be clear: Roy Moore's coworkers IN THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE were aware Roy Moore was chasing minors.

How many people have his coworkers thrown in prison for statutory rape during the course of their careers? This is eternal shame

Perhaps they only knew about the legal ones? The age of consent in AL is 16. Still, it's extremely disturbing.

That IS possible... But: was there any investigation to make sure? Did they just take his word? They're prosecutors; they're SUPPOSED to be suspicious.

I don't disagree. Just given what this man said FROM THE BENCH it's very obvious. That former prosecutor knew it. I do think the consent age of 16 is also problematic. What would be a crime elsewhere is OK in AL.

I have to agree with you Isa-Lee. 16 is very problematic. I wish more people would thin in terms of their own children. How many mothers & fathers would feel comfortable with their sixteen yr old daughter dating a man in his 30's? 16 is NOT an adult. PERIOD!
