We have tried something new on our beloved cod: Single cell transcriptome profiling of the Atlantic cod immune system . We observe several interesting cell clusters and speculate on their function. Feedback appreciated!

On this tragic let's go back only a few thousands of years, when it was possible to walk between the mammoths, rhinoceroses and hyenas across , My thoughts go out to my British friends in the EU and my EU friends in Britain

The EU funded my research, gave me the chance to work in different countries without a visa. Without it I'd never have met my wife and I wouldn't have the career I have today. Moving back to the UK just as it takes a step backwards is devastating.

Anyone know a good pipeline for annotating the ancestral allele on a vcf? vcftools fill-aa or manually with bcftools annotate the main options so far

This is hilarious. A Norwegian TV programme pitted some professional stock-pickers against an astrologist, some beauty bloggers and - i kid you not - cows shitting in a field. (short thread).

My trip into avian flatulence has revealed an amazing fact! The Bassian Thrush (Zoothera lunulata) uses farts to dislodge insects from leaf litter and to drive worms out of the soil... 🤯 (Cartoon from )

Good to see the mountains here in Liguria are named after evolutionary biologists. Haven’t found a Monte Slatkin yet though.

Attention: Biologists How important is it that university students are exposed to evolution prior to other subdisciplines (e.g. cell and molecular biology, neurobiology, development)? Vote below. Comments also very much appreciated. Please RT (thank you)

Excited to see my final chapter published We found that odorant receptor tuning is linked to the evolution of sexual signaling in orchid bees using a combination of chemical ecology, population genetics, whole-genome resequencing, and neurophysiology
