My colleague @StevenBeschloss told me he made $32K on his first journalism job 30 years ago. I made $32K on my first journalism job 20 years ago. A former student, recent grad, is making $32K on his first job. Is that still the starting salary for entry-level journalism jobs?

Mine was $9.5/hour for first TV job, equal to ~$24,000 in today's dollars as well.

My first job in Meteorology was at KPTM Fox 42 in Omaha. Didn’t want to pay me, so we called it an internship. Working in EMS, I make $9/hr when on call. Not as much schooling, but seems a little low compared to what I do.

My first radio gig was $4.35/hr. Min. wage went up to $5.10 but they forgot & I didn't want to lose my job for whining. When they realized, I got a reimbursement check for $11. My first f/t job was $26k, so I was a bouncer at Club Paragon & a snow plower to afford my radio habit.

This was '96, so it's probably $32k now.
