Just to clear this up: Rendon was injured on April 20. If Nats had placed him on IL by April 24 (backdating 3 days, as permitted), he'd have been eligible to return May 1 (tomorrow). By waiting til today to make move (even with backdating), he won't be eligible til May 7.

Who is to blame? Davey or the guy that hired Davey?

The manager doesn't make decisions about the IL. That's the medical staff and front office.

And the one game he played in, it was obvious he wanted no part of swinging. Have to make good medical decisions for players as they often don't have objectivity.

So, if he isn't ready to go today, it is unlikely he would be ready to go tomorrow. So it really doesn't matter that they didn't put him on IL April 24th. He would likely need to stay out another week anyway, so this discussion is probably much ado about nothing.

Except for the fact they've been playing with a short bench for more than a week while waiting to make a move most realized was inevitable for awhile now.

If they thought he would be better by tomorrow, he wouldn’t be going on the IL today.

Just ask Rizzo to jump into the back of the van with Ant-Man and everything will work out fine.

Doesn’t matter. He won’t be ready by May 20th. That’s just Rendon. Never comes back from anything in a week or less.
