Yup, I’m not happy about that either.
-
Children, our Senator is making the best choice possible. Tom Cotton was Trumps next choice. How bad would that be! haspel is also tough on Russia.
-
Sheryl, I loathe Tom Cotton, but there were enough yes votes, that
@MarkWarner could have stood tall and voted NO & she still would've been confirmed. He made the wrong choice today. I've always like him. Today, I'm sadly, and utterly disappointed. -
I have a different take on this. 1) We need a strong antiRussian counter intel person in that position & 2) a leader who supports agents demoralized by POTUS & effective manager. Haspel is both. Not perfect but can do the job, & those practices r out.
-
He had no requirement to vote for Haspel or any other nominee, including Cotton. (Though, Cotton’s potential nomination is pure speculation.) Never co-sign torture.
-
We don’t know what that vote (which cost us nothing, and him dearly) may have gained where it does do us some good (or, more likely in this environment, gain us something less bad). I believe we have to be aware, but not impossible.
-
Never co-sign torture and do not enable those who do. The lack of integrity of our current Dems costs us dearly.

@MarkWarner tell me what you know about Oleg Deripaska & Stefan Halper? How about Joseph Mifsud, Alexander Downer, Robert Hannigan conversations with John Brennan, and McCain’s foreign policy adviser David Kramer who met with Christopher Steele and James Comey & James Clapper.pic.twitter.com/PGAskY4j9A
-
The “Be Careful” bit was when Oleg Deripaska who worked with Mueller texted to
@MarkWarner that Chris Steele asked him to call. What kind of two bit charade is the Senate Intel Committee running these days? -
Can I ask where/how you learned this?
-
Inside the beltway, corroborated inside UK.
-
You missed the part where Warner wants to talk without a paper trail. FFS, he was doing the very thing he whines about Trump allegedly doing—colluding with Russians to influence American politics. Without. A. Paper. Trail.
-
ICYMI, the texts were covered ages ago. His committee has been fully aware. Even R’s acknowledged there was nothing to this little conspiracy theory. But, golly, nice try.
-
ICYMI, so what? Even if the RINOs on the committee didn’t care? You really think it is OK for Warner to secretly contact Russians unbeknownst to anyone? You think it is OK for him to do it without a paper trail? You think it is OK for him to not disclose it for 7 months?
-
But, golly, let’s not investigate a guy who admits to contacting Russians to dig up dirt on the opposing party. Let’s not investigate a guy who avoided any kind of oversight. Let’s do continue to investigate Trump, who after 2 years of scrutiny, there’s no evidence of collusion.
