Also corresponded w/ & hosted leading black intellectuals at her home, & started a library at Dunbar high school bc Lburg library was segregated. Amazing lady & key figure in our city! I teach her poems in my lit class.

Her son Chauncey E. Spencer (November 5, 1906 - August 21, 2002) was a Tuskegee Airman. He and Dale White convinced Congress to include Negroes in World War II Civilian Pilot Training Program. Virginia State College for Negroes (now University) trained aviators before Tuskegee.

The Virginia State College students trained at the Hopewell Airport in Prince George Virginia. Women were included in the Program. Theodosia Fraser was the top aviator before her untimely death. Thanks to the Spencers. YouTube videohttps://youtu.be/70mvL07DvZg
