More good news is that the Senate unanimously passed our bipartisan CHRONIC Care Act, which will expand telehealth & in-home care.
Austin from Locust Grove asked what we can do to bring costs down for #SmallBiz owners like him, who've seen insurance costs go up. Fair Q.
1. Allow insurers to sell plans across state lines.
2. Reduce ACA's reporting requirements
3. More pooling of #SmallBiz purchasing power
Bob asked about the Trump Administration's Executive Orders attempting to sabotage the Affordable Care Act.
It's definitely a problem, particularly for insurance companies figuring out if they're going to offer plans in markets like Virginia's.
Right now I'm hopeful we can move past partisanship & the chaos it causes, and focus on Sens. Alexander & Murray's bipartisan negotiations.
Both parties should have learned by now that we shouldn't pass legislation making massive policy changes without bipartisan support.
Last question: Is healthcare better today than it was before the Affordable Care Act?
*Access* to healthcare is much better thanks to the ACA. Millions more have coverage.
And you can't be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition.
Where the ACA fell short is cost-control. Our challenge now is to work together to bring down costs for middle-class families & #SmallBiz.
Thx @AARPVA! These are just a few of the questions we covered tonight. You can listen to the full recording here:https://twitter.com/AARPVa/status/913174790319599616 …
I honestly believe that Medicaid is the best and most just solution. That and teaching our health-care industry to comparison shop.
It always appeared that the Affordable Care Act was a beginning, not written in stone, changeable, and a life saver to many. Keep it going.
This is the key to success. It's not rocket science. Too bad the @GOP care more for politics & insurance companies than the citizens.
Now you're talking! Glad someone shows some good sense. Thank you. That's what H. Clinton wanted to do.
Please describe what you think is good. Then list what's bad. That would be a start.
The mandates don't work. You can't force healthy to join. The only thing working is the expansion of Medicaid. Funding issues....
