    Mark Warner Retweeted Washington Examiner

Probably won’t be front-page news this week, but this will save folks a lot of money. These so-called gag clauses prohibit pharmacists from telling customers they could save money by paying cash instead of using insurance. The Senate just passed a bill eliminating this practice.https://twitter.com/dcexaminer/status/1037465420419293195 …

Did you actually read Warner's tweet? He's saying medicare patients are going to save alot of $ because the Sentate passed a bill - unanimously! - allowing pharmacists to advise patients that a generic is available. This is a very good thing.

It’s not saying that. It’s saying you have to pay out of pocket, which is no longer tax deductible. Not exactly a win-win. More like which is worse. Especially, for our elderly.

But the patient still pays less at the pharmacy & since vast majority of people take the standard deduction & don't itemize (which is how med expenses get deducted) then not being able to deduct will negatively affect only a small fraction of ppl and help many more.

Good job! This SHOULD be front page news. My migraine medication costs me $90 through insurance, OR $24 cash; but most of us don't think to ask, assuming using insurance will save us money (as it actually should in a fair world).
