Really? This seems like giving up:
”So one proposal suggests giving new entrants access to Facebook’s friend networks, or at least making the information easy for users to port to a competitor.”
What can go wrong with proliferating data to startups without the money to properly secure the data?
Closing the barn door after the horse has bolted. By the day I am less impressed with Warner.
I’ve never been impressed with him. He’s a hypocrite even by political standards. That said, he does have one good idea here—disclosure of what data has been collected. I think that would terrify most Americans and would put Facebook out of business.
My guess is that most wont read this to know that Warner isn’t allying about limiting data collection, but instead, he wants to basically make Facebook’s collected data open source. What can go wrong?
*talking not allying
TY, Senator Warner..... I appreciate your efforts to secure our data/privacy. I have been very concerned since the Equifax debacle. Things just seem to be getting worse.
Secure our data? Seriously? This is BIG BROTHER! No way. I'll secure my own data.
Yeah, I'm not okay with any of that. I'll de-platform myself, I'll vote straight red ticket before I ever agree to these proposals. Europe is a SCARY place to be right now. These knives we're so keen on sharpening, you DO realize the party in action will use them AGAINST you.
He wants to control information. Eliminate free thought. THis is so wrong.https://reason.com/blog/2018/07/31/democrats-tech-policy-plans-leaked …
TOTALITARIAN! https://reason.com/blog/2018/07/31/democrats-tech-policy-plans-leaked … NO THANK YOU>
Wish you would have done something 8 years ago...oh that’s right....it was in your favor then.
Thanks Senator, consider 2020 ok
He takes too much corporate cash. Instant no.
Of course they're uncharted. You suggest that the federal gvt, which can't protect it's own data, assume a regulatory role for businesses and presumably, the rest of us. Geo. Bernard Shaw wrote, in part: He who cannot, teaches. Maybe a teaching position is in your future, Warner.
More REASON MAG: Senate Democrats circulating plans for government takeover of the internet Not happening Mark.
Yes, Sir... thank you for your ongoing diligence in this matter! in spite of those that oppose this Countries purpose.
Big Brother!
