As a child growing up in tiny community in Idaho, I was so proud to sell little plastic poppies door to door for Vetran's Day. I thought they were beautiful. I never knew why I was doing that though. Now I do. I'm Scotts Irish & Pennsylvania Dutch. My mother pampered her poppy.
