All 19 NHS trusts using the Lorenzo electronic patient record system have had a severe system failure today with no access to records impacting theatre lists, clinics, wards & med prescribing etc. The problem was the result of a failure in the Amazon Web Services data centre 1/2

Always great when one of the mojo pieces made by BBC England reporters and correspondents makes it onto network TV.
This, by , is just a strong story; the fact it was all filmed (bar the archive) on an iPhone & kit is secondary.

As a front line NHS worker, I’m not sure what worries me more?
How all over the country our patients are suffering because of the current state of the nhs …………or how little the press report it.

How awful. Ambulances are working flat out but I can't see much improving if they are not being turned round quicker at hospitals (West Midlands has particular problem)

Cancer patient died waiting 8 hours for an ambulance in Shrewsbury. Was found sat in a chair with coat on and bag ready to go to hospital
@OFFICIALWMAS confirmed.
But no comment on two further Birmingham deaths from the same source. One lay for 24hrs, it's claimed.

We are not where we were at the beginning of the year (thank the vaccine!) but 167 Kent hospital beds occupied by covid patients is a bad position as we move towards autumn and winter.....

Our staff are working flat out to reach patients as quickly as possible but if you are not in a life-threatening condition you will be waiting longer for a response. We urge everyone to make use of alternatives inc calling NHS 111 first if you think you need hospital treatment

Quite a comment on my story about Medway's CQC inspection. This is certainly a view I've heard from others - that when Medway was submerged with covid cases it was seen as the trust "failing again" by the wider system.
