Texas & Florida--> closing bars again to slow huge surge in the virus New York City--> set to open bars & restaurants for *indoor* service July 6 Let's not wait until NYC has a rebound to figure this out. Indoor gatherings are riskier. Let's stick with outdoor service for now.

Our bars and restaurants have suffered a horrible economic blow. But to reopen them now only to shut them down again would be truly devestating. Here are better ways to support these struggling businesses now:https://twitter.com/MarkLevineNYC/status/1276526630735921153?s=19 …

Yes we need to do much more to help struggling restaurants in NYC. Here are the right ways to do that: * dine frequently in outdoor seating * order lots of take out * tip generously * support expanded street space for tables * support add'l gov't relief funds

Meanwhile NYC still has many *outdoor* sites closed... Beaches: announced to open for swimming July 1 but still no details on plan Dog runs, tennis courts etc: opening unnecessarily delayed to Jul 6 Botanical gardens, grounds of historic sites etc: inexplicably part of Phase 4

Hi Mark, as one of your constituents, how much say does your office have in the city/state decisions on what opens?

Exactly! Trying to make it “like it was” is insane. It cannot be stated enough how delusional people are in thinking that reviving the US economy is simply a matter of resuming daily life like the virus doesn’t exist. THR VIRUS IS STILL HERE.

There’s lots of reckless behavior even in outdoors bars and dining.

Get those strongly-worded letters to @NYCMayor + @NYGovCuomo now. NYC has the summer to figure this out- give restaurants more outdoor space!
