It’s more a state of mind. From wherever you are, drive north for an hour. Anywhere north of there. But only if there’s trees. (Northern tallgrass prairies are “out west” no matter what direction.)

"State of mind" is something I can certainly get behind. Later in the year my
#MNstudies students will be taking on this tough question, looking at al the answers we've gotten & try to come up with their own thoughts. - Još 1 odgovor

What map doesn't label Bemidji? First City on the Mississippi, home of Paul and Babe. We are "North."
-
I adapted the map from http://www.globalcitymap.com/usa/minnesota-map.html …. We do talk in my
#MNstudies class about maps, what features/locations are featured, left off maps & why that might be. Thank you Madam Mayor. I personally consider Bemidji as "up north"

Lol! Depends on where your from in MN.

I'd tend to agree with you. I'm originally from Onalaska, WI. To me, north of Saint Paul was "up north" when I was young. Now I live in South Saint Paul. No way would I consider north of Saint Paul "up north" now.

North of Mille Lacs
-
Straight horizontal line from east to west (more less intersecting Willow River, the northern edge of Lake Mille Lacs and Fergus Falls to the west) and north, or does the western side of Minnesota get lopped off?
