And softening on conspiracy is *bad sign* in a supposed skeptic. Conspiracy theories by their nature help eliminate empathy for their targets, allowing them to be the targets of atrocities. To deny their central role, from Blood Libel to the Protocols is to deny history.

This was the danger of ignoring Q, and look where that got us. If you convince people to believe their opponents are baby eating Satanists, you radicalize them and inherently stoke violence. As Voltaire said, those that believe absurdities will commit atrocities.

There is not a genocide without some canpaign if disinformation or misinformation that give permission for masses of people to dismiss the humanity of others. It has been said by someone smarter than me, disinformation doesn’t exist to persuade as much as to give permission.

So while he doesn’t dismiss that the Holocaust happened, he basically dismisses the role of antisemitic propaganda and campaigns of hate against Jews as a major cause. This is, in a word, despicable. It is denial of history that erases one of its most important lessons.
