It’s an amazing disconnect, covering our eICU, monitoring every ICU bed in an enormous health system, the census reading down the line COVID, COVID, COVID, Fall at home (fell because hypoxic from COVID), COVID. Checking in on twitter and some AEI “scholar” calling it overblown.

It’s amazing. I have a 30,000 foot view right now and I’m looking at a pandemic out of control *killing people* and the denialists just keep lying to our faces - lying about the risk, the disease, prevention, the vaccine, everything. Denialism is an existential threat.

We are starting to wake up to this, but it’s going to take decades to change our education, media etc., and we don’t have decades before the next crisis (AGW) comes to a head. It’s already here. If our species fails, it won’t be a meteor that gets us. It will be denialism.

I mean, if you could see these lists. It’s extraordinary. When you’re on trauma, or ACS services you get focused in on what you’re doing, you lose this kind of perspective and then flipping back. Wow. Bed after bed. Mind blown.

I could show clipped images of the census I guess. What do you think #medtwitter? Lists of non-identifiable data/diagnoses?

That's kind of cool, covering an eICU as a surgical intensivist. How did you end up in that role? I thought eICU was more of a pulm/crit practice-

Trauma is also surgical crit care so I do about 1 in 4 weeks ICU. Sometimes its eICU.

I'm sure they would say rich people should be prioritized because they contribute more to the economy. Shorter AEI always: "ALL MUST BOW BEFORE MAMMON!"
