Those choices, not the oh-of-course covers, shape a magazine's personality. When you miss, you miss. But when you hit, you forge a connection between mag and reader that feels personal. It's harder to do intuitive stuff in the age of clicks, metrics, and data. Still worth trying!

I don't know if you were there then, but I found out about, and saw, "Broken Flowers" because it was on the EW cover. A nice memory.

I wrote that story and am thrilled we did our job and introduced you to a great movie. Am amazed you remember that. I'd almost forgotten it myself. It was an awesome place to work.

I *loved* EW back then. Savored it cover to cover every weekend. Have not felt so compelled in a very long time.

I was a stay at home mom in the 90’s and EW was legit my bible. I saw movies and TV shows I would have missed, albums I would not have heard, books I would not have read. It was like Christmas every Friday when it appeared in my mailbox!

I genuinely want an oral history of this cover and how it happened.
