Our media behaving more like co-conspirators suppressing fake WMD story which they were complicit in spreading (and cheering Trump's bombing campaign in response to the fake WMDs)—than like watchdogs defending public from government lies. Hardly the first time, or the last.

This Alexander Cockburn quote on “loyal and obedient” media who “behave like most well-fed and prosperous watchdogs, fast asleep in their kennels” https://twitter.com/markamesexiled/status/1089922874419359744?s=21 …https://twitter.com/MarkAmesExiled/status/1089922874419359744 …

Y'see the front page of the WaPo Style section this morning? Half the page is taken up mourning Gannett's "Newseum" — which was basically a fake museum of news. They spend a lot of copy bemoaning the media's "crisis of legitimacy" without bothering to examine the causes.pic.twitter.com/0nUJIOsz4K

Having worked for Gannett for years I couldn't mourn the passing of anything that company is involved with.

Trump was suspect of the intel assessment . Hence the bombing of a weapons munitions outpost. Don't drag Trump into this.

I think your assumption that Trump had anything to do with it is misplaced. Trump himself was highly skeptical of the situation as it was unfolding - something he was roundly criticized for by rabid war hawks on both the Left and Right.

And then he caved.

To tie this to Trump is to somewhat disregard the true power center within Washington DC, the national "security" establishment who runs the show and will stop at nothing to finish you if/when you cross them...making comparisons ignores or underrates a president's puppet strings

Stop making excuses for Trump
