i pay $1,100 per month for this insurance. if you think i should still have to pay an additional $660 for surgery, you have brain worms.
The best part is that everyone has a different specific part of the bill that outrages them. It’s because the entire system is broken from start to finish and needs to be destroyed. Being sick should not bankrupt you.
some bonus content: here’s a bill i erroneously received a few weeks ago for my outpatient follow-up procedure because they just forgot to bill my insurance. in the itemized bill, that -$6,968.00 is listed as “uninsured discount.” literally what.pic.twitter.com/XJcMvI8YAc

Honestly, health care in the UK sucks - it just sucks differently from the system in the US. My medical expenses in the UK have been a lot higher than in the US (including the cost of insurance) due to all the stuff the NHS won't cover (or won't address quickly enough).
Ah, yes, the vestige of insurance companies paying "reasonable & customary" hospital charges, with a small discount. So hospitals raised their charges and insurers demanded bigger discounts. Repeat for a few decades. Now, almost no insurer pays hospitals according to charges.
And the patient may be responsible for anything between 0 and the full difference, depending on how the provider chooses to handle it?
They’ll send you the bill for the anaesthesiologist in 2023
