The reasons keep changing about why it is that the Trump administration wants to keep Black and brown people out. And that's because there is no honest reason, except for racism and xenophobia. Read our full statement here:

This is not the first time the Trump Admin has targeted the Black diaspora in general & African nationals in particular. From the attacks on to visa sanctions on Eritrea in that same year, this admin is consistent with their hate for Black Muslims.

We show up in the streets, now — either hosting an event or taking action at a event in our community, alongside non-Muslim allies: ➡️

We have been fighting to for 3 years now. We've been through a lot. We've showed up in airports, in courtrooms, in our communities, and in Congress. We’re not going to stop now. In fact, we’re just getting started.

We U.S. Muslims are active in our communities. We vote. We contact our representatives. And, alongside allies from every imaginable walk of life, we organize. We know we are not alone. We hope you, reading this, know that too.

Turns out, US Muslims aren’t some passive political football Trump can kick whenever he needs a boost. We’re people, with agency, who will write our own story.

So what do we do about it? Here’s what we do: we stand together. As Muslims, Jews, Christians, good people of any faith or no faith — all people of conscience who refuse to let a far-right authoritarian punish Muslim families to get re-elected.

THIS IS KEY: The Muslim Ban is part of a broader white supremacist agenda, from pushing for a wall, to subjecting people to a wealth test, to stepping up terrorizing ICE raids in our communities.

It’s no coincidence that after Trump v. Hawaii, the administration issued a ban on people fleeing violence and seeking asylum at the southern U.S. border.

Trump v. Hawaii, the Roberts Court ruling letting Trump's Muslim Ban stay in place, was a historic stain on the Court’s record, likely to be named by future generation alongside shameful cases like Dred Scott, Korematsu, Citizens United and Bush v. Gore.

The Muslim Ban, like so much from the Trump White House, is bigoted on its face. It’s rooted in a white supremacist worldview that aims to exclude and punish Black, Brown, Muslim communities.

This is clearly about Trump retaining his base through hate and Islamophobia. And doing so through an almost unbelievably immoral means: targeting Muslim Families for family separation. And it’s part of a bigger pattern.

The timing, of course — in the midst of the Senate deliberating on criminally convicting Trump, and on the edge of an election campaign that’ll require Trump solidifying his hard-right base to win — speaks for itself.

If anything, this Muslim Ban expansion's even more vicious than before — it’s an *explicit* attack on Muslim families. It bans all immigrant visas *and* family petitions, leaving Muslims unable to join their children, spouses, or parents in the U.S.

Of the 6 countries added, Nigeria has more people than the other 6 combined — and is Muslim-majority. Not all 6 new countries added are Muslim-majority – but current immigration visas for the 6 skew heavily from Muslim-majority countries.
