Random note: I’ve gotten lots of new followers recently so I just wanna level set here.
I’m not a journalist, I’m a public policy director. I’m not neutral on many of the issues I discuss, and don’t pretend to be.
A loss for transparency. Had these rules been in place last year, we never would have found out about Ginni Thomas's emails to Arizona lawmakers pressing them to help overturn the 2020 election. The Post got those emails via public records requests to the AZ House and Senate.
Arizona lawmakers vote to exempt themselves from state public record laws. Wow. https://wmicentral.com/news/legislature-votes-to-exempt-self-from-state-records-laws/article_b027bc20-e84a-5056-9d97-194380c87540.html…
People voted on (what I can only assume they think are the 'worst') "Supreme Failures of the Court".
Some make sense, others will make you side-eye whoever made this list. I'll give you a brief description of each decision and let you decide. twitter.com/JustinLawGuy/s…
Here were the most frequently mentioned “worst decisions from SCOTUS” in order, according to self-identified conservative & libertarian legal scholars.
(FYI: several of these cases have been partially or fully overturned)
conservative legal scholars ranked the worst Supreme Court decisions and felt that the cases establishing rights to gay marriage and contraception were worse than the one upholding concentration camps for Japanese-Americans twitter.com/LawLiberty/sta…
A man firebombed a Planned Parenthood clinic in Illinois because he was “reminded” of his ex-girlfriend’s abortion three years ago, and so he decided to commit an act of terrorism to stop other women from accessing reproductive healthcare services.
Let's get one thing fucking straight here lads.
Men are not going to 'transition' to allow them access to female only spaces.
Men have been abusing, harassing, assaulting and murdering women out in the open since the dawn of time.
When we Christians become convinced that only we know the truth, that anyone who opposes us is on the side of evil, and things will only get better if we are in charge of all positions of power, that is when we know we are no longer worshiping God.
We are worshiping ourselves.
that their budget plan will cut Ohio administrative code by 1/3 seems more about idealogy than anything else, the gov. has said he wants his administration to prioritize families. So we're taking him at his word. 1/
“Florida High School Athletics Association requiring student athletes to submit menstruation info to schools: including age of their first period, how many days are typically in between their periods, and the date of their most recent period.”
THE BUILDING IS ON FIRE
Female student athletes in Florida need to provide their schools with detailed information about their periods

The significance of the Bush v. Gore ruling is impossible to overstate. Not only was this guy denied the presidency, but 3 of the Bush side attorneys now sit on the US Supreme Court.
WE ARE NOT WINNING. Former Vice President of the USA says the people who run our world and economy are driving us towards global cataclysm. Where are our cultural and political leaders? They need to raise the alarm and demand action NOW #ClimateEmergencyhttps://ox.ac.uk/news/2021-08-09-oxford-climate-scientists-no-doubt-about-climate-change…
Buddy Carter responds to criticisms from Democrats about his national sales tax: "That's what we're talking about a national sales tax or consumption tag where you decide if you want to buy a boat. You're going to pay taxes. You don't want to pay the taxes, don't buy the boat."
"Why am I here?"
A speaker in favor of an anti-trans bill asked herself this following the emotional testimony of an 11 year old trans boy in Missouri.
Over 100 people came out against 8 anti trans bills last last night.

This comes just after a bill, largely written within the Senate GOP caucus, passed that legally redefines natural gas as "green energy" and makes it easier to drill for oil and gas in state parks
New Ohio Senate bill bars state funds from #ESG investing, or investing for environmental, social or corporate governance goals:

Its honestly still so hard to believe this wasn’t a big practical joke but in reality there’s some guy out there who lost his house and marriage because Paris Hilton convinced him to “buy” a picture of a cartoon ape.
I swear these people have a Ray Liotta voiceover going on in their minds about how slick they are and how smooth they’ve got it.
I can envision the mentality and it makes me laugh because it’s so adolescent, but it’s also horrifying because they really do stay robbing Ohio blind
Gas stoves may seem like a consumer choice issue—akin to the SUV-Prius divide of the Obama years, or that unfounded rumor that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was trying to take away your hamburgers. In reality, it’s more comparable to the issue of lead paint.
Feels like it should be making a bigger splash that the FBI agent who oversaw the Trump/Russia investigation is being charged w. collusion w a Russian oligarch & his current lawyer is coincidentally the former DOJ official & acting US attorney for EDNY (under Trump & Barr).
McGonigal pleads not guilty through his attorney Seth DuCharme, a former senior DOJ official during Bill Barr's tenure at Main Justice and a former acting U.S. Atty for EDNY
Of course we don’t want any person in power using their power flippantly, but good faith elected leaders really need to be forceful & decisive, & leverage institutional power ethically. show everyone it’s possible. The opposite of corruption isn’t inaction, it’s ethical action.
Whether it’s reforming the Supreme Court, or getting rid of the filibuster, or charging ppl for serious crimes they committed, or generally reforming corrupt systems, well-meaning leaders have pulled punches time after time. STOP. It’s not even self-preservation. It’s cowardice.
McCarthy kicking Swalwell, Omar & Schiff off a committee needs to be seen for what it is: proof positive that bad faith actors will always abuse accountability tools, no valid rationale needed.
So often, the logic behind failing to hold politicians accountable is, “if we hold them accountable now, then when they have the opportunity, they will abuse accountability tools.”
It’s so naive. Corrupt actors don’t need an excuse to abuse their power! They love doing that!
BREAKING: An immense step forward. Pope Francis calls for the decriminalization of homosexuality worldwide: "Declaring such laws 'unjust,' Francis said the Catholic Church can and should work to put an end to them. 'It must do this. It must do this.'"

Here’s the worst person on earth, newly re-platformed by Elon Musk, exulting in his ability to tell thousands of far-right fans that “Jews run the news.”
Pretty succinct summary of what Musk has turned Twitter into: the world’s largest fascist recruitment network
If I had a dollar for every creepy grown ass man that went out of his way to watch one of our middle or high school volleyball practices I would have many dollars.
Explain to me why girl's (under 18) volleyball shorts show their asses. Give me one good reason why my 12 year old's cheeks have to be out for her to serve like the beast she is?
EXPLAIN IT.
Runner Lauren Fleshman says its a trend across sports that started in response to Title IX, out of the conservative fear that sports would turn girls and women into frumpy lesbians. Heard it here in an interview promoting her memoir “Good for a Girl”
