Badu is a difficult person to interpret. i think her mindset becomes a problem when she refuses to reject harmful ideas in order to maintain a neutral/forgiving POV. The position she aims to occupy is a nearly impossible line to tread without coming off as offensive at times.

I vacillate between loving her and thinking she's a complete dodo. It's possible to be so open-minded that your brain falls right out of your head, right?

I feel similarly - I think her open-mindedness is a healthy mindset to have in some areas of life (love, art/music, culture..) but misses the mark elsewhere (politics, controversy, tragedy, etc) - I'm not sure it's smart to approach all things with that kind of mentality
